Welcome to The NightExposed the offical website of Ronald DeFeo Jr.
that exposes the unthruths and the misconceptions found in books and newsmedia
as well as the rumors of the whole Amityville saga.
Our sister site, the
Injustices
of Amityville, explores the Injustices of Suffolk County PD and
the corruption within the 1975 trial of Ronald DeFeo Jr. It also contains
pages for the victims, the family, and a case files page. The bios page will
give you an insight into some of the people mentioned here and within the
Amityville Horror community.
Over the years there have been many stories written about the DeFeo's, and
the events that took place in 1974. The latest version of events
tells of a woman named Geraldine Gates who has claimed to have been married
to Ronald DeFeo in 1974, and she claims her daughter is Ronald's child. This
website debunks Geraldine Gates's claims of ever having known the DeFeo family,
and proves beyond a shadow of a doubt the stories she told Ric Osuna for
his book "The Night the Defeos died," is pure fantasy and
fabrication.
In April 1974, Geraldine Gates was married to Joseph G. Pisani, not Ronald
DeFeo. On August 21st of that year, their daughter Stephanie Pisani
was born. Prior to this marriage, Geraldine was married to her first
husband Frederick Cory. Her third husband is Gerald H. Gates, they
were married in New Jersey in 1978, and are still married to this day.
Over the years Geraldine has used several alias, among them are Romondoe
and DeFeo. Geraldine's maiden name is Rullo, not Romondoe as she has
claimed through the years.
In 1980 Gerald Gates and his wife Geraldine were charged with Grand Larceny
(not auto) 3rd E. They both served time in a maximum prison facility.
Gerald Gates served time in Attica State Prison, and Geraldine served
time in Bedfordhills Correctional Facility. In Ric Osuna's book, he
claims Ronald set Geraldine up for passing bad checks, which eventually led
to her arrest. The documents stated on this website show otherwise.
In 1985, Geraldine met Ronald DeFeo for the first time ever. The facility
was going to ban her visits, due to the fact of her previous incarceration
that prohibits ex-felons from any visitation into a prison facility while
on parole.
Ronald paid a CO's mother $200.00 for an ID stating her name as "Geraldine
DeFeo". Once this was established, Geraldine continued her visits
to the correctional facility. During this time, Ronald and
Geraldine concocted a story about Stephanie being Ronald's daughter in order
to win a settlement against the Estates of Ronald's Mother and Father. The
courts cited the only way to accommodate this settlement; "If Ronald was
married and had children at the time of his incarceration". This was
the motivation in the story Ronald and Geraldine Gates made up.
They continued this lie through the 1992 evidentiary hearing. Ronald
even went as far as marrying Geraldine Gates in 1989, but the marriage was
not legal, because she was already married to her third husband. This
of course is why she stated on her marriage license "Romondoe"
Ronald DeFeo made up a story along with Geraldine Gates in order to prove
his innocence of three murders, this was his chance to prove to the courts
how Suffolk County set him up and how they brutally beat him and denied him
a fair trial. All of his hard efforts failed , and the A.D.A. Karen
Petterson exposed Geraldine Gates and Ronald DeFeo's tall tale of being married
and sharing a child together.
The stories were finished and over with. Ronald DeFeo did not get his
new trial, and wanted out of the marriage with Geraldine Gates. Six
months after being married, Ronald files for a divorce, and wanted to
put this entire ordeal behind him for good. In the early part
of 2000, Geraldine Gates contacts Ric Osuna, and this entire saga that Karen
Petterson A.D.A. in Suffolk County exposed as a lie is revealed in Ric Osuna's
book entitled: "The Night the DeFeo's Died" and being sold under the
pretense it is a true story.
Over the years, Geraldine Gates has ran con games on Ronald DeFeo , she has
taken money and promised to pay it all back within a reasonable amount
of time. She tried to obtain monies from Ronald's family burial plot,
and now she has helped Ric Osuna with his book by taking Ronald's legal work,
his grandmother's will, tapes, video's, affidavit's, and trial transcripts
from the home of Barry & Traci Springer illegally.
